Our Story
In 1983, Nelda Cardozo started the Talbot Park Mother's Day Out program for the families of the church. They met one day a week. Soon after the program started it became evident that there was a need to offer this service to the community. The Mother's Day Out Program started meeting twice a week.

Nelda left her position to take a full time teaching position in Virginia Beach. Sue Rigau and Kathleen Boyd went beyond their teaching duties and became co-directors, transitioning the program into a preschool operating five days a week.

In 1988, Kathleen answered a calling to take a position with Virginia Beach Public Schools, at which time Sue Rigau gave up her teaching position to become the director of the preschool. Sue directed the program from 1988-1996. The preschool has been under the direction of Mrs. Dana Costas since June 1997.

As the ministry grew, so did the opportunities to better serve the needs our the community. Next came extended hours with adding before and after care. Next, God opened the door to remodel the church nursery to make room for four more class that would allow for ages as young as 6 weeks.
"My son has attended Talbot Park since he was 2, and we love the close-knit family atmosphere. When I drop him off in the morning I know he'll be nurtured, and when I pick him up I know he'll be smiling!"

"We are loving the preschool program! My son had been attending a different preschool the last two years and had zero interest in writing or letter recognition. Within two weeks of school, he came home and said 'I know how to write my name!' And sure enough, he could! We feel truly blessed that our son is enjoying school."

"My daughter started here with the 3 year old class and we love it!!! She is excited to go everyday and brings home the best artwork. She is constantly singing new songs and is learning so much!"
